If the Heritage Christian Patriots were feeling good off their 81-56 takedown of the St. Francis Mariners two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. 2024 welcomed Heritage Christian with a 65-44 loss courtesy of Living Word Lutheran on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Heritage Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Living Word Lutheran is ranked 69th).
Living Word Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elaina Raymond led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Winkelmann, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Heritage Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Living Word Lutheran, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Kenosha Christian Life at 7:15 p.m. on January 8th. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will take on Catholic Central at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
