The Mitchell Bluejackets had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 52-34 victory over Clay City on Saturday. The victory was just what Mitchell needed coming off of a 54-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Lulu Koehler and Kailyn Kirkling certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Koehler scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds, while Kirkling scored 9 points. Koehler scored a full 35.3% of Clay City's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mitchell's win bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Clay City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Mitchell will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Rock Creek Academy at 11:00 a.m. on December 2nd. As for Clay City, they will square off against North Daviess at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. North Daviess has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
