Colton Corder tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Preston Ritchie, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Lawson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Leon scored first but ultimately less than Marianna in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3.
Brady Brown was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March.
On the hitting side, Leon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evans Franco, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Chiles' win bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Leon, they dropped their record down to 12-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chiles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Leon struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chiles got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Leon by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
