The Saugus Sachems will take on the Lynn Classical Rams at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Saugus 3.3, Lynn Classical 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Saugus took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Winthrop get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Sachems as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Danny Zeits made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Soroko, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
Meanwhile, Lynn Classical was able to grind out a solid victory over Medford on Wednesday, taking the game 3-0.
The result came thanks to Christian Figueroa's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ronal Brea was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mark Walsh, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Lynn Classical is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Saugus, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Saugus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lynn Classical struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Saugus was able to grind out a solid win over Lynn Classical when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 13-10. Do the Sachems have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
