East St. Louis and Collinsville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The East St. Louis Flyers will head out on the road to face off against the Collinsville Kahoks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East St. Louis is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Last Monday, East St. Louis took a serious blow against Civic Memorial, falling 74-24. While losing is never fun, East St. Louis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Civic Memorial is ranked 17th).
Collinsville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Belleville West 62-42. With that win, Collinsville brought their scoring average up to 51.2 points per game.
Collinsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Talesha Gilmore out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Gilmore's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Ella Guererro was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 5 assists.
East St. Louis has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Collinsville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
East St. Louis didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Collinsville in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win.
