Kennedy is 8-2 against the Oilers since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Kennedy Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Richmond Oilers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Kennedy and 23 for the Oilers dating back to last season.
Kennedy pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-61 to El Cerrito. Kennedy has not had much luck with the Gauchos recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Kennedy got a solid performance out of Tyler Martin, who scored 32 points. That was a full 52.5% of Kennedy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jayson Scarbrough, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-15, which was the final score in Richmond's tilt against the Cougars on Tuesday. Richmond was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-5.
Kennedy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Richmond, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-19.
Everything came up roses for Kennedy against the Oilers when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 61-28 win. Will Kennedy repeat their success, or do the Oilers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
