Belfry is 8-2 against Man since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will face off against the Hillbillies at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Man will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Belfry extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over Mingo Central. Considering the Pirates have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Varney was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. David Michael Hagy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Belfry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Man, as they earned their first away win of the season. They blew past Tolsia 18-3 on Wednesday. The Hillbillies haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Hunter Maynor made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Maynor was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Man got a massive performance out of Grayson Sanders, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Cantrell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Belfry's record now sits at 4-2. As for Man, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Man's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Belfry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Man, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Belfry keep running through batters, or will the Hillbillies buck the trend?
Belfry beat Man 7-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
