The Richland Colts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northern Cass. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Northern Cass is ranked 28th).
Despite the loss, Richland still got an impressive performance from Casyn Syvertsen, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Syvertsen has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Wulfekuhle, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Richland's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Northern Cass, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richland will take on Wyndmere/Lidgerwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northern Cass, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lisbon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
