Baseball Recap: West Bend West's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

West Bend West dropped their record down to 5-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grafton Black Hawks by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 8-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Dieter Pommer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinlin Ehlke, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Grafton, their record is now 6-3. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

On Grafton's side, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Cameranesi, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Cameranesi a new career-high. Zachary Plier was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Coming up, West Bend West will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cedarburg at 4:30 p.m. The Spartans are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Grafton, they will square off against Hartford at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Orioles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Black Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
