The Oswego Panthers will take on the Lemont Lemont HS at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lemont will be up against a hot Oswego squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 11. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand Plainfield North a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday.
Oswego let Natalie Muellner and Rikka Ludvigson run wild. Muellner went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Ludvigson went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Ludvigson has posted since back in May of 2024. Kiyah Chavez was another key player, getting four hits from her four at bats.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Oswego kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lemont made easy work of Oak Forest on Tuesday and carried off an 11-0 win.
Natalie Pacyga was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Podrebarac, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lemont is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Oswego, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oswego hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. However, it's not like Lemont struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oswego couldn't quite finish off Lemont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
