The Sparta Academy Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 62-15 victory over Crenshaw Christian Academy. The win was familiar territory for Sparta Academy who now have six in a row.
Sparta Academy was led to victory by Kaitlyn Johnson and Jamie Ellissa Deason. Johnson dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals, while Deason scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Deason has scored at least 25% of Sparta Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Mary Trainham Brock, who scored four points along with six steals.
Sparta Academy's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Crenshaw Christian Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta Academy will take on Southern Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crenshaw Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Lakeside School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
