The Homestead Spartans won the last time they faced the Carroll Chargers, and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went Homestead's way against Carroll as Homestead made off with a 68-43 victory. Given Homestead's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Carroll is ranked 196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Chargers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lily George, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds. The match was George's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Ava Myers was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Homestead and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Carroll, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Homestead will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Carroll, they will head out on the road to face off against Northridge at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northridge will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
