Basketball Recap: Dubuque Senior Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Dubuque Senior won against Iowa City on Tuesday with 80 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Dubuque Senior Rams beat the Liberty Lightning by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 80-56. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Liberty's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerimiah Washpun, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Washpun now owns an excellent 45.2% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddoc Coapstick, who posted ten points and three steals.

The victory (which was Dubuque Senior's eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.6 points. As for Liberty, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Looking ahead, Dubuque Senior will head out on the road to face off against Hempstead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dubuque Senior is facing Hempstead at the right time seeing as Hempstead is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Liberty, they will welcome Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Iowa City has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 176 points over their last three games.
