The Katy Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Tompkins Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Katy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Tompkins likes a good challenge.
On Wednesday, Katy didn't have too much trouble with Katy Taylor on the road as they won 60-46. Given Katy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Katy Taylor is ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Tompkins' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 92-43 defeat at the hands of Jordan.
Katy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Tompkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-18.
Katy strolled past Tompkins when the teams last played back in January by a score of 74-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Katy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
