The Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes came tearing into Tuesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They pulled ahead with a 63-62 photo finish over Heritage Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Machebeuf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miles Edgar-Parchman, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Edgar-Parchman hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Menke, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raul Bertinato, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Bertinato is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah Baldwin, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Heritage Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Machebeuf only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Bishop Machebeuf pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Machebeuf will face off against Union Colony Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Union Colony Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Bishop Machebeuf is ranked 44th). As for Heritage Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge SkyView Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
