The Humboldt Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 65-30 win over Fredonia. For Humboldt, this counts as revenge for the 71-67 defeat Fredonia walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Humboldt's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Hull, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Hull pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Hart, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Humboldt's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Fredonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Humboldt will head out on the road to face off against Cherryvale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cherryvale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Humboldt is ranked 91st). As for Fredonia, they will face off against Jayhawk Linn at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
