2019 MaxPreps Small Schools All-American Football Team

Rated as the No. 2 player in the nation by 247Sports, Fleming is headed to Ohio State next year after a spectacular four-year career with the Tigers. He played on a Tiger team that went 63-1 with three state championships and four state title game appearances. Fleming and his Tiger teammates also went out on a 48-game win streak, which ranks as the third-longest active streak in the nation.

Southern Columbia scored 716 points during Fleming's freshman season and has gradually improved on that total each year. The Tigers scored 815 Fleming's sophomore season, 859 points last year and 888 his senior season. In fact, Southern Columbia outscored opponents by over 800 points this year (888-82).

Fleming has been a huge part of that success. He had 256 receptions in his career, which ranks second all-time in Pennsylvania history. He also gained 5,481 yards receiving, which ranks No. 10 all-time and No. 1 in Pennsylvania. His 78 career touchdown receptions easily rank as the most in state history and they rank fifth all-time nationally.

Chad Fox of Wahoo (Neb.) is the MaxPreps Small Schools Coach of the Year. Prior to 2016, Fox had a record of 64-46 in his tenure as head coach of the Warriors, but the past four years has seen a change in Wahoo's fortunes. After three straight 10-2 seasons, Fox and Wahoo went the distance in 2019 with a 13-0 record and a Class C-1 state championship.

The title is the first football title in school history and allowed Wahoo to finish at No. 3 in the MaxPreps National Small Schools Rankings. Wahoo outscored opponents 612-54 and posted six shutouts on the season, including a 38-0 win over Pierce in the state championship game.

The Small Schools All-American Team consists of a first and second team with 30 members on each team. The players are chosen from schools that have under 1,000 students enrolled or play in state enrollment divisions that generally have less than 1,000 students.

First Team Offense

QB — Ty Keyes, Taylorsville (Miss.), 6-0, 180, Jr.
Keyes has led the state in passing yardage the past three seasons and he's only a junior. He threw for 3,721 yards (213 of 309) with 41 touchdowns in leading Taylorsville to a Class 2A state championship. He was named the state player of the year at the 2A level by the Mississippi Association of Coaches and he was the Gatorade State Player of the Year. He's on track to become the state's all-time passing leader as he has 12,019 yards and 125 touchdowns.

QB — Hunter Dekkers, West Sioux (Hawarden, Iowa), 6-2, 233, Sr.
The Gatorade State Player of the Year in Iowa, Dekkers led West Sioux to the Class 1A state championship. He threw for 3,640 yards and 36 touchdowns and he also had 10,628 yards and 126 touchdowns in his career. He's a three-time all-state quarterback.

RB — Thaddius Franklin, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.), 6-1, 215, Jr.
Named the Sun Sentinel All-Broward County Offensive Player of the Year, Franklin led Chaminade-Madonna to the Class 3A state championship by rushing for a then state record 333 yards on 47 carries with five touchdowns in the championship game against Florida State University. He finished the season with 2,282 yards on 288 carries with 28 touchdowns.

RB — Jalen White, Daleville (Ala.), 6-0, 200, Sr.
White led the nation in rushing with 3,519 yards, which also set an Alabama state record. He also set a state single-game scoring record with eight touchdowns. Named to the Class 1A all-state team by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, White rushed for over 400 yards three times (419, 462 and 465) and finished the year with 49 total touchdowns and 300 points.

RB — Colton Marshall, Hawley (Texas) 6-1, 215, Sr.
The Class 2A state player of the year in Texas, Marshall led Hawley to the Class 2A quarterfinals and a 13-1 record. He rushed for 3,501 yards on 325 carries for the season to lead the state of Texas and finish third in the nation. He also had 47 touchdowns and 328 total points. He had a single-game high of 516 yards and seven touchdowns on 12 carries in a 73-20 win over Windthorst.

AP — Tyler Buchner, Bishop's (La Jolla, Calif.), 6-2, 200, Jr.
The San Diego Section player of the year was among the national leaders in total offense as he threw for 4,474 yards (267 of 402) with 53 touchdowns and he rushed for 1,610 yards on 128 carries with 28 touchdowns.

AP — Vinsonta Allen, Madison County (Madison, Fla.), 6-7, 170, Sr.
Besides leading Madison County to the Florida Class 1A state championship, Allen was also named the All-Big Bend Offensive Player of the Year by the Tallahassee Democrat. He threw for 1,533 yards and 24 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,427 yards and 23 scores.

WR — Julian Fleming, Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, Pa.), 6-2, 199, Sr.
The Tigers lost one game in Fleming's career (63-1) and won 48 games in a row with three straight Pennsylvania Class 2A state championships. The Ohio State recruit caught 256 passes in his career for 5,481 yards and 78 touchdowns. He set state records for career yards and touchdowns and finished second all-time in receptions. He caught 73 passes for 1,539 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior. Named the Gatorade State Player of the Year.

WR — Holden Willis, Greenback (Tenn.), 6-4, 204, Sr.
The Class 1A Tennessee Titans Player of the Year winner and a member of the All-MidState team by the Nashville Tennessean, Willis set a state record with 28 touchdown receptions while catching 73 passes for 1,729 yards. He led Greenback to the Class 1A state championship game and finished his career with 158 catches for 3,273 yards and 44 touchdowns.

TE — Elijah Yelverton, Trinity Christian (Cedar Hill, Texas), 6-5, 225, Sr.
A member of the TAPPS Division II all-state team, Yelverton helped lead Trinity Christian to the TAPPS state championship. He caught 62 passes for 595 yards and nine touchdowns and finished his career with 122 catches for 1,348 yards and 17 scores.

OL — Tate Ratledge, Darlington (Rome, Ga.), 6-6, 322, Sr.
One of the top tackle prospects in the country, according to 247Sports, Ratledge earned Class 1A all-state honors and has committed to play at Georgia.

OL — Myles Hinton, Greater Atlanta Christian (Norcross, Ga.), 6-6, 323, Sr.
Son of former Atlanta Falcon lineman Chris Hinton, Myles was a Class 3A all-state selection and he has committed to play at Stanford.

OL — Eli Acker, Heritage Academy (Columbus, Miss.), 6-6, 285, Sr.
Acker helped lead Heritage Academy to a 14-0 record and an MAIS Class 5A state championship. He was named the Class 5A state player of the year and he has committed to Ole Miss.

OL — Branson Taylor, Elyria Catholic (Elyria, Ohio), 6-6, 290, Sr.
Taylor is headed to Pitt next year after finding a spot on the Ohio Associated Preps Division V all-state team.

OL — Tyler Elsbury, Byron (Ill.), 6-5, 270, Sr.
Iowa signed a good one in Elsbury, who led Byron to the Illinois Class 3A state championship game. He was named to the all-state team by the News-Gazette and the Class 3A all-state team by the Illinois Coaches Association.

K — Andres Borregales, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.), 5-11, 140, Jr.
Considered one of the top kickers in the nation in the Class of 2021, Borregales kicked 12 field goals, including one from 57 yards and another from 56 yards, while helping the Lions to the Class 3A state championship. He finished with 57 extra points and 93 total points. He also averaged 40.2 yards per punt.

First Team Defense
DL — Zykeivous Walker, Schley County (Ellaville, Ga.), 6-4, 260, Sr.
A member of the Class 1A-Public all-state team, Walker had 85 tackles, including 29 for loss and 11 sacks. He also had 22 hurries, seven passes defended, a blocked punt and three forced fumbles. He will play at Auburn next year.

DL — Jah-marien Latham, Pickens County (Reform, Ala.), 6-3, 280, Sr.
An Alabama signee, Latham was a Class 1A all-state pick by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He had 69 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and eight sacks for the state semifinalists.

DL — Blayne Toll, Hazen (Ark.), 6-5, 242, Sr.
Headed to Arkansas, Toll had 45 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 10 sacks during the regular season. Helped Hazen to a 10-2 overall record.

DL — Romello Height, Dublin (Ga.), 6-4, 216, Sr.
The University of Auburn recruit was named the Class 2A defensive player of the year for state champion Dublin. He finished the season with 16 sacks and 27 tackles for loss.

LB — Antonio Doyle Jr., Lutheran North (St. Louis), 6-4, 221, Sr.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year and the Class 2 state defensive player of the year by the Missouri Coaches Association, Doyle helped lead Lutheran North to a state championship. Missed three games, but still finished with 73 tackles and three sacks.

LB — Jack Hollifield, Shelby (N.C.), 6-3, 225, Jr.
A member of the Charlotte Observer's all-area team, Hollifield had 164 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and nine sacks.

LB — Reid Carrico, Ironton (Ohio), 6-3, 220, Jr.
One of the top linebackers in the nation in the Class of 2021, Carrico was the Ohio Division V defensive player of the year. On defense, Carrico had 168 tackles, three sacks and 18 tackles for loss. He also rushed for 1,634 yards and 28 touchdowns on offense.

LB — Isaiah Ratcliff, Cedar Grove (Ellenwood, Ga.), 6-0, 195, Sr.
The Associated Press Class 3A defensive player of the year helped lead Cedar Grove to a state championship. He had 162 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 10 sacks for the season.

DB — Fred Davis, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.), 6-0, 192, Sr.
A member of the Jacksonville Times Union's All-First Coast Team, Davis had 26 tackles and an interception this year. He is headed to play at Clemson next year.

DB — DJ Harvey, Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), 5-11, 168, Jr.
Besides catching 84 passes for 1,465 yards and seven touchdowns, Harvey was also a standout on defense, where he had 35 tackles, four interceptions and 25 passes defended for a team that finished No. 2 in the national small schools rankings.

DB — Kristian Story, Lanett (Ala.), 6-1, 210, Sr.
The Gatorade State Player of the Year in Alabama, Story led Lanett to the Class 1A state championship. He threw for 2,865 yards and 35 touchdowns and rushed for 1,293 yards and 17 scores. For his career, he has 9,070 yards passing, 3,618 yards rushing and 530 yards passing for a total offense of 13,219 yards and 175 touchdowns. He also had 28 career interceptions.

DB — Dane Jentsch, Grandview (Texas), 5-11, 180, Jr.
The Class 3A state offensive player of the year in Texas, Jentsch was also a standout defensive player while leading Grandview to the 3A Division 1 state championship. Named the offensive and defensive MVP of the state championship game for the second year in a row, Jentsch had four interceptions in the playoffs and finished with 3,349 yards passing and 34 touchdowns and 1,029 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns.

AP — Trevin Luben, Wahoo (Neb.), 5-11, 190, Sr.
An all-state selection by the Lincoln Journal Star, Luben led Wahoo to its first Class C1 state championship. He rushed for 2,136 yards and 41 touchdowns, including 286 yards and five touchdowns in the championship game. He was also a leader on defense and finished his career with 4,741 career yards and 474 career points.

P — Zeke Rankin, Alcoa (Tenn.), 5-6, 170, Sr.
Named the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year in Tennessee, he played on a state championship team at Alcoa and he is ranked as the nation's No. 1 punter in the Class of 2020.

Second Team Offense
QB — Drew Hartz, Owensboro Catholic (Owensboro, Ky.), 6-3, 200, Sr.
A second team all-state pick by the Louisville Courier-Journal, Hartz was one of the national leaders in touchdown passes with 57. He completed 246 of 348 passes for 4,173 yards and led his team to a 9-3 record.

QB — Jefferson Boaz, East Surry (Pilot Mountain, N.C.), 6-8, 230, Sr.
The first team all-state quarterback in North Carolina by NCPreps, Boaz is recognized as one of the state's top tight ends by 247Sports. He led East Surry to the Class 1A state championship and finished with 4,615 yards (233 of 314) with 65 touchdowns.

RB — Gaige Garcia, Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, Pa.), 5-10, 205, Sr.
Garcia finished his career as the state's all-time leading touchdown scorer and one of the state's all-time leading rushers. He rushed for a state record 138 touchdowns in his career and a state record 159 total touchdowns. His 8,246 career yards rushing rank seventh in state history. He ran for 1,960 yards on just 126 carries (15.6 average) and scored 35 total touchdowns.

RB — Benjamin Jackson, West Greene (Waynesburg, Pa.), 6-1, 220, Sr.
Jackson earned Class 1A state player of the year honors by Pennsylvania Football News after rushing for a state best 3,076 yards and 48 touchdowns. He's just the ninth player from the state to rush for over 3,000 yards in a single season.

RB — JaQues Evans, Dublin (Ga.), 6-2, 225, Sr.
Led a Class 2A state championship team that had 6,206 yards rushing on the season. Evans ran for 2,531 yards on 262 carries with 42 total touchdowns and received Georgia Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year honors by the Associated Press.

AP — Hunter Herring, Ouachita Christian (Monroe, La.), 6-5, 200, Jr.
Herring led Ouachita Christian to the Division IV state championship and was the Class 1A state player of the year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. He was also the Bert Jones Offensive Player of the Year in Northeast Louisiana by the Monroe Star News. He threw for 1,794 yards and 27 touchdowns and he rushed for 1,123 yards and 25 scores.

AP — Jackson Beaman, Lincoln (Mo.), 6-1, 195, Sr.
The Class 1 Offensive Player of the Year by the Missouri Football Coaches Association, Beaman threw for 3,115 yards (211 of 361) and 39 touchdowns while rushing for 1,753 yards on 205 carries with 38 touchdowns. He led Lincoln to the Class 1 state championship game.

WR — Chris Long, Willingboro (N.J.), 6-0, 160, Sr.
A first team all-state selection in New Jersey by NJ.com, Long caught 67 passes for 1,619 yards and 20 touchdowns. His receiving yards set a new South Jersey record. He has committed to play at Rutgers.

WR — Stephen Gosnell, East Surry (Pilot Mountain, N.C.), 6-2, 198, Sr.
A member of the NCPreps all-state team, Gosnell caught 68 passes for 1,544 yards and 22 touchdowns. Also had four rushing touchdowns and two scores on kickoff returns. In his high school career, Gosnell has thrown for over 1,000 yards in a season (1,134 yards as a junior), rushed for over 1,000 yards in a season (1,080 as a junior) and caught passes for over 1,000 yards in a season.

TE — Luke Lachey, Grandview Heights (Columbus, Ohio), 6-6, 220, Sr.
A Division VI all-state player signed to Iowa, Lachey finished with 57 catches for 741 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior. Finished his career with 118 catches for 1,948 yards and 26 touchdowns.

OL — Avery Jernigan, Pierce County (Blackshear, Ga.), 6-4, 305, Sr.
The University of Auburn signee was named to the Class AAA all-state team in Georgia by the Associated Press.

OL — Tyshawn Wannamaker, Calhoun County (St. Matthews, S.C.), 6-4, 330, Sr.
Named to the Times and Democrat All-Area Team and the South Carolina Coaches Association Class 2A all-state team, Wannamaker has signed to play at South Carolina.

OL — Traizhan Jones, Abbeville (S.C.), 6-4, 285, Sr.
The South Carolina Coaches Association selected Jones to the Class 2A all-state team. He's headed to play at South Carolina.

OL — Tate Johnson, Callaway (Hogansville, Ga.), 6-4, 315, Sr.
A Class AA all-state pick in Georgia by the Associated Press, Johnson has committed to play at Auburn.

OL — Amarius Mims, Bleckley County (Cochran, Ga.), 6-7, 295, Jr.
One of the top linemen in the Class of 2021 by 247Sports, Mims was a Class AA all-state selection in Georgia.

K — Ethan Kollenborn, Cardinal Newman (Santa Rosa, Calif.), 5-10, 185, Sr.
A member of Cardinal Newman's bowl championship team, Kollenborn kicked 10 field goals on the season, including a long of 50 yards. He also made 67 of 70 extra points and had 97 kicking points on the season.

Second Team Defense
DL — Slone Stultz, Mason (Texas), 6-0, 225, Sr.
The Class 2A state defensive player of the year in Texas, Stultz had 96 tackles during the regular season with 26 tackles for loss, six sacks and five forced fumbles.

DL — Isaiah Bruce, Lena-Winslow (Lena, Ill.), 6-2, 270, Sr.
The conference MVP as a defensive lineman and running back two years running, Bruce has committed to Iowa to play defensive end. He had 38 tackles and 16 tackles for loss as a senior and also rushed for 1,052 yards and 16 tackles for the Class 1A state champions. Named to the News-Gazette's all-state team.

DL — Matt Everman, Marion Local (Maria Stein, Ohio), 6-1, 205, Sr.
The Division VII defensive MVP in Ohio helped Marion Local to a state championship. He had 12 sacks during the regular season.

DL — Johnny Newton, Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater, Fla.), 6-3, 230, Sr.
One of the top defenders in the Tampa Bay area, Newton finished the season with 104 tackles and 16 sacks. He's headed to Illinois.

LB — Desmond Tisdol, Wilcox County (Rochelle, Ga.), 6-0, 215, Sr.
The Class A-Public defensive player of the year in Georgia by the Associated Press, Tisdol signed with Auburn after racking up 84 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, five sacks, four forced fumbles and three interceptions.

LB — Cal Haladay, Southern Columbia Area (Catawissa, Pa.), 6-0, 197, Sr.
Committed to play at Michigan State, Haladay earned Class 1A all-state honors by Pennsylvania Football News after setting a school record with 327 career tackles.

LB — Peyton Snow, Winona (Texas), 5-10, 165, Jr.
Snow earned Class 3A state defensive player of the year honors in Texas after he racked up regular season totals of 163 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, three interceptions and four tackles for loss.

LB — Josh Henderson, Grace Brethren (Simi Valley, Calif.), 6-2, 200, Sr.
Besides rushing for 1,424 yards and 29 touchdowns on offense, Henderson earned All-Ventura County honors by racking up 115 tackles with 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, 21 hurries, and an interception.

DB — Ahmari Harvey, Florida State University (Tallahassee, Fla.), 6-1, 178, Jr.
The All-Big Bend selection helped lead Florida to the Class 3A state championship game with 94 tackles, six interceptions and four defensive touchdowns.

DB — Edward Woods, McClymonds (Oakland, Calif.), 6-0, 175, Sr.
Signed to play at Arizona State, Woods helped McClymonds to four OAL championships. He had four interceptions as a senior and was part of a defense that had five shutouts.

DB — Durrell Johnson, Mountain Island Charter (Mt. Holly, N.C.), 6-1, 177, Sr.
Selected to the North Carolina all-state team by NCPreps, Johnson was among the national leaders with 11 interceptions on the season.

DB — Jacob Paradee, Central A & M (Moweaqua, Ill.), 5-11. 160, Sr.
A two-way standout, Paradee had 111 tackles and five interceptions on defense and added 52 receptions for 1,274 yards and 19 touchdowns on offense. An all-state pick by the News Gazette, Paradee had 135 career receptions for 2,866 yards and 38 touchdowns.

AP — Jax Miller, Avonworth (Pittsburgh, Pa.), 6-1, 190, Sr.
The Class 2A player of the year by the Post Gazette, Avonworth rushed for 2,362 yards on 313 carries with 29 touchdowns while making 84 tackles on defense with 16 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.

P — Alex Bacchetta, Westminster (Atlanta, Ga.), 6-3, 195, So.
Ranked as the No. 1 punter and the No. 2 kicker in the nation for the Class of 2022 by Kohl's, Bacchetta was first team all-state by the Associated Press in Class 3A and was All-Metro by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
