Ross is a perfect 10-0 against Edgewood since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. One thing working in Ross' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
Ross lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Franklin, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Rams blew past the Wildcats 12-3 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Paige Baker made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Ross got a massive performance out of Kam Commins, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Commins has posted since back in March. Olivia Powers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Ross lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Edgewood didn't have quite enough to beat Talawanda on Wednesday and fell 7-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Brave: they've now lost six in a row.
Jaylee Rose made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Henson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Ross has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Edgewood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ross hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. It's a different story for Edgewood, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Ross' hitters?
Everything went Ross' way against Edgewood in their previous meeting back in April, as Ross made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
