Bryan County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bryan County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 24-16. The score was all tied up 8-8 at the break, but Bryan County was the better team in the second half.
Bryan County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tanner Ennis out in front who rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Prince Avenue Christian stacked a 11th blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Irwin County, posting a 41-7 victory on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Prince Avenue Christian who now have six in a row.
Prince Avenue Christian can attribute much of their success to Connor Causby, who picked up 201 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Aaron Philo, who threw for 448 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Hudson Hill did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 74 receiving yards.
Bryan County pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.11 points. As for Prince Avenue Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Bryan County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 269.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Prince Avenue Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.8 per game.
