North Central is 8-2 against Warren Central since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will head out to challenge the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. North Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, North Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Guerin Catholic. They won by a run and slipped past the Golden Eagles 2-1.
Tristan Wilson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, North Central secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Abel Flessner, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Warren Central came into Wednesday's matchup having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Ben Davis on Wednesday.
Keith Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Jackson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Warren Central is undefeated when Jackson posts two or more runs, but 1-13-1 otherwise.
Warren Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.
North Central's record is now 11-5. As for Warren Central, their record now sits at 4-13-1.
North Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Warren Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Central continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went North Central's way against Warren Central in their previous matchup back in April, as North Central made off with a 14-0 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
