Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Unaka

Unaka had won four straight games and Michelle Shields did her part to make it five on Thursday. The Unaka Rangers snuck past the Cosby Eagles with a 49-44 win thanks in part to Shields, who posted 21 points and six assists. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Brooklyn Campbell was another key player, putting up three points and six rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Unaka has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Cosby, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Unaka and Rockwood will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Cosby, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hancock County at 6:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
