8A District 7 recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 8A District 7 this week, Manatee beat St. Petersburg 51-13. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Hurricanes.
Riverview moved up to 76 from 105 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rams climbed the ranks as a result of beating Palm Harbor University 48-18.
The Hurricanes' dynamic duo of Tyler Kaminski and Dominick Bonelli proved tough for Riverview to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jacob Martinez helped Palm Harbor University's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 34 yards.
Trevon Walters provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Manatee bested the Green Devils. Walters' key target this week was Marquel Hines, who caught 3 passes for 44 yards.
Walters was a force in the backfield as Joe Kinnan's team topped St. Petersburg.
Manatee's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hurricanes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joshua Meyer has thrown for 847 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Kelvin McKnight has 33 catches for 407 yards.
Joe Fabrizio's team lost to the Hurricanes 51-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Deangelo Reaves was a bright spot for the Green Devils, as he ran for 78 yards and caught 2 passes for 23 yards in the loss.
