The El Dorado Aztecs lost against the Monterey Plainsmen back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with El Dorado falling 53-37. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1164th, while Monterey is ranked 379th).
El Dorado's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hunter Hutchisson, who scored 6 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Well, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for El Dorado and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Monterey, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Canyon the next time they take the court. Monterey will head out to face Canyon at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, while El Dorado will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
