If the Telfair County Trojans were feeling good off their 63-31 takedown of the Hawkinsville Red Devils last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Telfair County fell 57-50 to Bleckley County on Friday. Telfair County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bleckley County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Telfair County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Passion Clay. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clay has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zah'Mya McDuffie, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Telfair County's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Bleckley County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.
Telfair County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wheeler County at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Wheeler County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday. As for Bleckley County, they will be playing at home against Swainsboro at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Swainsboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Bleckley County likes a good challenge.
