Baseball Recap: Oliver Springs Triumphs

Oliver Springs was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Newton Local Indians, sneaking past 4-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Bobcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Eli Brummett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Liam Boeke, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Will Eddings also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Oliver Springs' victory bumped their record up to 12-8-1. As for Newton Local, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Looking ahead, Oliver Springs will take on Washburn at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Newton Local, they will face off against Central Magnet at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
