Lakeside has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Freeman Scotties at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 257 points over their last six matchups.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lakeside walked away with it. They really took it to Life Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-14 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Lakeside, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Freeman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Montesano. Freeman pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Montesano cut but never quite recovered from.
Luke Whitaker was his usual excellent self, throwing for 148 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown. Sage Gilbert was another key contributor, picking up 42 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lakeside's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Medical Lake and 1-9 East Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.2% over those games). As for Freeman, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Lakeside was able to grind out a solid victory over Freeman when the teams last played back in September, winning 26-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakeside since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
