It was a good run, but  the Austin Maroons unfortunately witnessed the end of their  three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a  53-38 bruising from Steele. While losing is never fun, Austin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings  (they are ranked 736th, while Steele is ranked 108th).
 Despite the  defeat, Austin had strong showings from  Foley Anderson, who  scored 9 points along with 6  rebounds, and  Jill Shirk, who  scored 13 points. Shirk scored a full 34.2% of Austin's points, the fourth time in a row she's  earned more than a third of the team's points.
 Austin has yet to win a  game at home this season, leaving them with a 5-12 record. As for Steele, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
 Austin will head out on the road to face off against Bowie at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Bowie will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Steele, they will be playing in front of their home fans against United South at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. United South is coming into the  matchup hot, having won their last three games.
