Riverside has gone a perfect 7-0 against Independence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Ram will head out on the road to challenge Independence at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Riverside's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Potomac Falls 9-0. The win was familiar territory for the Ram, who have now won three games in a row.
Kaylee Kadans tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ashley Bui was excellent, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Walsh, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Independence won against Stone Bridge on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Independence put the hurt on Stone Bridge with a sharp 11-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but Independence sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Emma Stringer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Riolo, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Halliday Fulcher was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Independence's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their record now sits at 10-5.
Independence's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Riverside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Independence, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Riverside keep running through batters, or will Independence buck the trend?
Riverside came out on top in a nail-biter against Independence in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ram since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
