The Brownfield Cubs will be playing at home against the Lamesa Tornadoes at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Brownfield ended up a good deal behind Littlefield and lost 56-41. Brownfield has not had much luck with Littlefield recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Brownfield saw an underclassman step up: Alliey Coffey scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Amery Pauda was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lamesa unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Dimmitt 31-25.
Brownfield's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Lamesa, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
Brownfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lamesa when the teams last played on January 2nd, but they still walked away with a 32-26 victory. Will Brownfield repeat their success, or does Lamesa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
