Hackleburg extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 8 this week by beating Shoals Christian, 15-12. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Panthers.
Hackleburg and the Flame played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Hackleburg eventually emerging with a 15-12 victory. Dylan Gallaway threw for 51 yards and one touchdown and ran for 82 yards in the win.
Phillips's Rodney Camp and Tyler Crumpton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Camp has thrown for 1795 yards this season, while Crumpton, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 46 catches for 1032 yards. ROD HUDSON's team's Kristian Jones leads the league in rushing yards with 927.
Jones of the the Panthers is only 73 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Two of the top units in 1A Region 8 will face off this week when the Bears take on Shoals Christian. Phillips' offense has racked up 332 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Patrick Odom's team has allowed only 124 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Flame take on Gary Mccarley's team. Shoals Christian is currently in second, while the Bears are in fourth.
Hackleburg made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,377 from 7,691. The advance stemmed from a 15-12 victory over the Flame last week.
