Basketball Game Preview: River Hill Hawks vs. Lake Clifton Lakers

The River Hill Hawks and the Lake Clifton Lakers will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in River Hill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Wednesday, River Hill came up short against Dulaney and fell 68-57. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Lions are ranked 30th).

Despite the loss, River Hill got top-tier performance from Nicholas Kogut, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. Those 24 points gave Kogut a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaden Moore, who went 6 of 13 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Lake Clifton also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Mergenthaler Vo-Tech by a score of 65-54. That's two games in a row now that the Lakers have lost by exactly 11 points.

Lake Clifton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for River Hill, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3.

River Hill came up short against Lake Clifton in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, falling 52-40. Can River Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
