Last Tuesday, South Sioux City was the victim of a tough 67-42 defeat at the hands of Bishop Heelan Catholic. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Sioux City in their matchups with Bishop Heelan Catholic: they've now lost five in a row.
South Sioux City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bailee Durant, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and Brooklyn Heineman who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Heineman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.
Meanwhile, Gross Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Concordia by a score of 57-49. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but Gross Catholic was the better team in the second half.
South Sioux City's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8. As for Gross Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
South Sioux City strolled past Gross Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 60-42. Will South Sioux City repeat their success, or does Gross Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
