The D.H. Conley Vikings will challenge the South Central Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as D.H. Conley comes in on nine and South Central on five.
While D.H. Conley's victory against New Bern wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Bears 3-2. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by just one run.

Tucker Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Davis Bradley was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, South Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Princeton on Friday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Falcons have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Isaiah James made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That hit marked the first that he got this season.
In other pitching news, Brandon Worsley tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Rahkeem Williams, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Brannan, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Princeton only posted a batting average of .227.
D.H. Conley pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. D.H. Conley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
D.H. Conley beat South Central 5-2 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
