Moreau Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over South Fork. Considering the Mariners have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Yazlin Rodrigues spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sienna Rios and Mia Burrell did most of the damage at the plate: Rios went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Burrell went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Ritchie, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Moreau Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Eureka got the win against San Domenico on Saturday by a conclusive 13-1. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Loggers yet this season.
Eureka also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Mackenze Wolff gave up a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Macy Secor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Bailey Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
Eureka now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Moreau Catholic, their record is now 14-12.
Eureka's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Moreau Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465.
