It was a good run, but the Riverside Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Jackson Central Merry by a score of 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Riverside saw an underclassman step up: Jack Cupples scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 44.8% of Riverside's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. James Harralston was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Jackson Central Merry, their victory bumped their record up to 1-9.
Riverside will be playing at home against Liberty Tech Magnet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Riverside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. Jackson Central Merry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
