The Viewmont Vikings will face off against the Woods Cross Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Viewmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Viewmont proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Bonneville.
London Dickerson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Dickerson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Karli Dickerson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woods Cross, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Highland get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.
The result came thanks to Bree Benson's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Woods Cross got a massive performance out of Audrey Ayala, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Whitney Winegar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Woods Cross' victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Viewmont, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Viewmont took their victory against Woods Cross in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 15-8 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
