The Tempe Prep Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Santa Cruz Valley 63-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Tempe Prep.
Tempe Prep was led to victory by Chris Milner and Austin Sampson. Milner scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Sampson scored 20 points along with six assists and six steals. Sampson is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cyalan Cotton, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Santa Cruz Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Harris, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Harris is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Daniel Contreras was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Tempe Prep pushed their record up to 7-13 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Tempe Prep will head out on the road to take on Horizon Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Horizon Honors presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tempe Prep in Arizona (Horizon Honors is ranked 117th, while Tempe Prep is ranked 249th). As for Santa Cruz Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sequoia Pathway Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
