Rocky River is 6-0 against the Eagles since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Rocky River Pirates will head out on the road to take on the North Olmsted Eagles at 11:30 a.m. Hopefully Rocky River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
Rocky River unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak. They fell 50-38 to Avon Lake. While losing is never fun, Rocky River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Shoremen are ranked 22nd).
Rocky River might have lost, but man, Ava Patti was a machine: she scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.3% of Rocky River's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, North Olmsted's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 52-30 defeat at the hands of Twinsburg.
North Olmsted's loss came about despite a quality game from Mia Donald, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Rocky River's record is now 10-7. As for North Olmsted, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Rocky River against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 54-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rocky River since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
