In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Game of Inches
After a comfortable win over Mill Creek in the match before, Milton might have felt a bit of anxiety in its most recent match. Milton won an extremely close contest against Hillgrove with a final score of 20 - 19. Senior Jordan Yates deserves a lot of the credit as he earned one touchdown and 149 yards rushing the ball. The one-point margin earned this game the title of 'most exciting' for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Grayson (11th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Lowndes (4th). Grayson wasn't too far behind, but it still lost 20 - 15 to Lowndes. Grayson plummeted six positions in the power rankings after the defeat.
Look Out Below
After a challenging last week, Monroe Area now finds itself down eight power ranking positions. No one has a better right to be disappointed since that was the biggest drop of the week. It ended its game a good deal behind Pierce County, falling 24 - 7. Monroe Area unfortunately couldn't repeat the imposing 49-point effort it came up with in its previous game.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Archer (3rd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Colquitt County (1st). The teams have their eyes fixed on the championship after last-week playoff conquests. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out on Friday which team fails to repeat its success.
