Lewis County hasn't had much luck against Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Minutemen are taking a road trip to take on the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lewis County barely beat Bridgeport the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Minutemen blew past the Indians 11-3 on Monday. The Minutemen haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Courtney Boggs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Jaelyn Smith was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Minutemen with a sharp 19-9 victory.
Riley Pearlman and Aspen Dyer did most of the damage at the plate: Pearlman got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Dyer went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one double. Dyer is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Eakle, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.
Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Lewis County pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Lewis County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lewis County suffered a grim 19-9 defeat to Lincoln in their previous meeting on Friday. Can the Minutemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
