Football Recap: Cedar Bluffs Takes a Loss

Cedar Bluffs lost against Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The Wildcats were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Titans in the fourth quarter 16-8.

Despite the loss, Cedar Bluffs still got an impressive performance from Trayven Kluthe, who rushed for 197 yards and four touchdowns. Kluthe is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Carter Eiring also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Alex Dewberry and Kameon Dettmann. Dewberry gained 188 total yards and four touchdowns while Dettmann rushed for 94 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 94 rushing yards gave Dettmann a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Cedar Bluffs and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cedar Bluffs is set to square off against their familiar foe Elmwood-Murdock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer will face off against rival Weeping Water at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
