Clayton Valley Charter hasn't had much luck against De La Salle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Ugly Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jhadis Luckey and Jaden Jefferson.
Things were looking good for Clayton Valley Charter after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They received a blow as they fell 31-14 to Acalanes. While the Ugly Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dons 7-0 in the first quarter.
Although Clayton Valley Charter took the loss, they still got scores from Luckey and Landon Trautner.
Meanwhile, De La Salle put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past California 52-14. With the Spartans ahead 31-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Clayton Valley Charter better keep an eye on Brady Smith. He was instrumental in De La Salle's win, rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
De La Salle's run defense was locked in: California could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Jmo Mitzel for the heroic effort on defense: he. De La Salle didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.8.
Special teams played a big role in the game for De La Salle, adding 16 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jefferson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
De La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Clayton Valley Charter has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 253.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like De La Salle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 288.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Clayton Valley Charter took a serious blow against De La Salle in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 49-3. Can the Ugly Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
