The Overhills Jaguars will square off against the Hoke County Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoke County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Overhills, who comes in off a win.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Overhills and Pine Forest, and Overhills kept the tradition alive. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Trojans 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.
T Copper was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of D Ludwick, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Hoke County lost a heartbreaker to Jack Britt when they met back in February of 2025, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Bucks lost 27-1 to the Buccaneers. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Bucks couldn't push the score so high this time.
Hoke County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Tatum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Hoke County's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Overhills, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Overhills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hoke County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Overhills came out on top in a nail-biter against Hoke County in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 11-10. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bucks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
