Baseball Recap: Rutherford Extends Winning Streak to Four

Rutherford had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 back in February.

Devin Langley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rutherford's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caylen Nguyen, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Rutherford pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for North Bay Haven Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-8 record.

Coming up, Rutherford will square off against Mosley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mosley will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Rutherford surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they will be playing at home against Blountstown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
