Basketball Recap: Holly Springs Gets the Win

Millbrook came into Saturday's contest looking for another win against Holly Springs, but Adaora Mogbo wouldn't allow it. The Golden Hawks enjoyed a cozy 46-30 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday thanks in part to Mogbo, who posted 17 points along with eight boards and six steals. Her big performance that morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points.

Another player making a difference was Dazaria Smith, who scored five points and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game.

Millbrook's loss came despite strong showings from Lauren Brown and Grace Bardeen. Brown went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and eight rebounds, while Bardeen had eight points and 13 boards. Bardeen has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Holly Springs' win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Millbrook, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Holly Springs will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Apex Friendship at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Millbrook, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-27 loss against Southeast Raleigh on the 2nd.
