The Triangle Math & Science Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Woods Charter Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Triangle Math & Science is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Chatham Charter just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 41-30 to the Knights.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Noor Rana, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aarushi Sojitra, who earned six points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Triangle Math & Science smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woods Charter). They really took it to Carolina Friends for the full four quarters, racking up a 43-7 victory. The win was nothing new for the Wolves as they're now sitting on four straight.
Triangle Math & Science better keep an eye on Wesley Oliver. She was instrumental in Woods Charter's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. The dominant performance also gave Oliver a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Valentina Podolyanskaya, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 12 points and six steals.
Woods Charter's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.3 points per game. As for Triangle Math & Science, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Triangle Math & Science has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Woods Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 42.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Triangle Math & Science against Woods Charter when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-29 win. In that game, Triangle Math & Science amassed a halftime lead of 36-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
