Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2021 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.
Antonio Williams of
Dutch Fork (Irmo) is the 2021 MaxPreps South Carolina High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 180-pound senior wideout had 1,625 yards receiving on 85 catches with 15 touchdowns for the Silver Foxes, who finished runner-up to Gaffney in the 5A championship.
Williams is the No. 5 prospect in South Carolina in the Class of 2022 and the 22nd-best receiver in the nation with 27 offers, including Clemson, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Florida State and Auburn.
The lanky pass catcher finished his career with 2,458 receiving yards with 23 touchdowns.
Will Taylor of
Dutch Fork (Irmo) was the 2020 MaxPreps South Carolina High School Football Player of the
Year. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound senior quarterback accounted for 2,685
yards and 32 touchdowns to lead the Silver Foxes to a 10-0 record and
