It was a good run, but the Benedictine Cadets unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Catholic 61-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Walker, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Walker hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Josiah Rickards, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Benedictine's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Benedictine's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Woodberry Forest is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ambassadors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Norfolk Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Crusaders are ranked 15th).
