Clover has gone a perfect 10-0 against Rock Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Clover is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Catawba Ridge, who was ranked 19th at the time (Clover was ranked 17th). The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Copperheads on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Rock Hill can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past South Pointe 18-7. The Bearcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Alyssa Thompson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Thompson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Rock Hill let Charity Chisholm and Karamia Cunningham run wild. Chisholm got on base in three of her six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Cunningham went 2-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Cunningham a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayte Rivera, who earned four runs and one stolen base.
Rock Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Rock Hill's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Clover, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Everything went Clover's way against Rock Hill when the teams last played back in March, as Clover made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bearcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
