The East River Falcons will challenge the Satellite Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
East River's last matchup with Montverde Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Monday. The Falcons lost 14-3 to the Eagles. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alejandro Medina was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Satellite came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Highlanders as they made off with an 8-2 win. Considering the Scorpions have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brandon Reiter and Jaidan Batts made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Reiter tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Batts tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Reiter posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At the plate, Reiter scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Batts got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MJ Valdes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Satellite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.
Satellite's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for East River, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. East River has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Satellite struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
